1minutetosavetheworld.com is an online competition aimed at filmmakers from around the world and of all ages are invited to submit a film lasting one minute on the topic of climate change.
The competition was born with the aim of raising public awareness of the seriousness of climate change and what can be done to combat it is in its second edition and has the support of prestigious organizations such as UNICEF , Greenpeace, WWF and media giants like Sony .
The entries must be submitted in one of three categories created on climate change. The jury that will consider a winner for each category is composed of media executives and renowned environmental activist.
Prizes will be delivered that will include a wide range of gadgets, Sony released the opportunity to see the winning film at the international level and a prize of 5000 pounds.
To provide a taste of the videos already submitted, together with those of the 2009 are all viewable on the site of the competition, there's film Carl Thompson titled 'Odyssey Switch' , based on the message that even in a world devastated by the consequences of excessive production of electricity, which is then wasted, it only takes one finger to change things. Even a single action, like turning off the light switch can help save the world from climate change.
The deadline for submitting films is December 17, 2010.
